Aquarium After Dark

Tonight was the Aquarium of the Pacific's annual fundraiser gala and this year's theme was Aquarium After Dark - and I was a part of it.   You should have seen it.  The Aquarium looked wonderful.  Both the plaza near Shark Lagoon and the Great Hall were filled with tables loaded with great food.  Colorful lighting and live music were brought in.  And everybody I work with was looking good in our awesome glow-in-the-dark shirts!  Guests mingled as they enjoyed a good meal and then got to spend time looking at the exhibits and the behaviors of animals that are different from what you would see on a normal visit to AOP.

The Molina Animal Care Center was housing two of our Magellanic Penguins so we had a pretty big draw.  Me, Samantha, Pam, Kim, and Dr. Adams met with guests, answered their questions, and taught them a bit about animal healthcare.  They loved it, we loved it, and we all just had a great time together.

One of the most exciting things of the evening though was seeing Wyland.  The famous environmental artist was there as part of the event.  Guests got to paint with him.  And yes, even though I'm not a guest, I still got involved.  My addition to the kelp might be the stuff of genius!
